While my focus is generally on easy, healthier recipes, because of this I have started sharing some of the more traditional Italian recipes that are a part of my family. Every family has their holiday traditions and foods. In my family, we make Homemade Manicotti on Easter Sunday and Homemade Lasagna on Christmas Day. I do make lasagna for Sunday Dinners throughout the year, as it is definitely one of my family’s favorites! I use no boil lasagna noodles because they are so much easier and you can’t tell the difference between these and the ones you have to boil first.
Don’t be intimidated if you have never made a lasagna before. This is an easy lasagna recipe that anyone can make, but it does take some time from start to finish which is why it is usually reserved for Sunday Dinners or Holidays! This is a quick homemade meat sauce, not like a Sunday Sauce that you cook for several hours, using a combination of ground beef and ground sausage. I love this flavor combination in an Italian Red Sauce for homemade lasagna. I like to use San Marzano Crushed Tomatoes. They are the most delicious and authentic in both taste and texture. They are available in most grocery stores, as well as on Amazon
TIP: You can make a lasagna ahead of time and freeze it!
Let’s talk Lasagna Pans…I have had the same one I got at my bridal shower 16 years ago. It’s an All Clad Lasagna Pan and it still looks brand new after many years of use!
