Instant Pot Short Ribs
Make fall off the bone tender short ribs in your Instant Pot
  • 4 pounds Bone In Short Ribs
  • Salt and Fresh Ground Black Pepper
  • 2 Tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 3 celery sticks, diced
  • 4 garlic cloves, smashed
  • 1 Tablespoon Dried Thyme
  • 1 Tablespoon Dried Oregano
  • 1 Can tomato paste
  • 1 Cup crushed tomatoes
  • 1 Cup red wine
  • 2 Cups Low Sodium Beef Broth
  • 2 Bay Leaves
  1. Pat the short ribs dry with a paper towel and season them liberally with salt and pepper
  2. Press the "Sautè" function on your Instant Pot and add the Olive Oil
  3. When the display reads "HOT", working in batches, add the short ribs fat side down to the pot.Sear for 4 minutes on each side. Remove short ribs to a plate and set aside
  4. Add the onions, carrots, celery, and spices to the pot. Cook for a few minutes until the vegetables begin to soften, about 3 minutes. Add the garlic and tomato paste and cook for 3 minutes more
  5. Hit the "Cancel" button on your Instant Pot.
  6. Add the tomatoes and the short ribs back into the pot. Pour the beef broth and red wine over the ribs. Add in the Bay Leaves
  7. Cook on High Pressure (or Manual ) for 50 minutes. Once the cooking time is done, let the pressure naturally release
