In first and second grade, my daughter had an associate teacher (one of the best teachers we’ve ever had) who incorporated mindfulness into the curriculum. I have to admit, I didn’t know much about it at the time. But, I saw how the kids embraced it and the difference it made. Isabella talked about what they did at school and practiced it at home on her own. So, I knew that I had to learn more about it.

The BE MINDFUL Activity Cards are a creative and fun tool to practice mindfulness with kids at home or in school. The cards includes 24 mindful concepts each with an interactive activity, meditation and breathing exercises and parent/teacher cards. The activities are simple and fun, and inspire positive character building for everyone involved!

The Mindful Moves Initiative was founded by Stefanie, a fellow Brooklyn mom. She created these cards for us and our families to practice mindfulness together. Stefanie has been teaching mindfulness for 10 years to various audiences and upon becoming a mom in 2014, found an immediate connection with other parents. “It became clear that we are all facing the same challenges and need strategies to deal. We also have to find ways to teach mindfulness to our kids, and make the behaviors a habit in our homes and schools.’ She got inspired and pulled together her favorite concepts and activities that she felt were the most important to share and pass on, and the BE MINDFUL Cards were created!
Stefanie leads mindfulness meet ups in Clinton Hill (Brooklyn), teaches mindfulness workshops to parents and teachers, and leads service retreats abroad. Stefanie is certified in Jon Kabat Zinn’s Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Program and the Move with Me Mindfulness Program for Kids.

This is on time because I’ve been thinking about how I can learn more about mindfulness and share that with my kids. I’ll have to look into these cards especially reading how much a difference it made for your daughter.

These look awesome! I was just added to the new Wellness Committee at my son’s school and this is my topic too! I have no idea where to start but feel this is a necessary skill the kids need to thrive in this day and age! What a great tool!
That’s great Heidi! Thanks for entering!
I would give this to the Sunday school teacher at church who works with the 2-6 year olds. I think that would be the perfect age to reinforce the idea of being mindful and kind so it becomes a life-long habit.
